Student Entitlement through the ACE Schools Careers Programme: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

All students in Key Stages 2-4 are entitled to: 

• Curriculum subject learning to explore and discover potential career pathways 
• Skills-based Workshops tailored to suit the needs of students centred around Enterprise in conjunction with CSW, CEC (Careers & Enterprise Company) and our dedicated Enterprise Adviser: Davey Ashmore. 

• Educational visits across all Key Stages in industry, Public Services, Sixth forms, University, FE Colleges and Training providers which include:  Achievement Training; Skills Group SW; Greenlight; City College Plymouth; CTSW – Construction Training SW; Discovery College and Plymouth University 
• Invite aspirational speakers to engage students: employers, industry leaders, ex-students - Alumni, employees, apprentices, community leaders, university students and lecturers - Plymouth University; Marjon University; City College Plymouth; Duchy College  
• Vocational Placement opportunities from Year 9 with: Aspire, NORPRO, Bikespace, CTSW – Construction Training SW 
• Discover all Post-16 options: Qualifications, Training and Apprenticeship opportunities across the South West, as part of a comprehensive Employability, Enterprise and Aspirations Programme in KS4 
• Write CV’s; make applications for the full range of Academic and Vocational courses, Apprenticeships and Training Providers. 

• Meet and engage with local Employers, Training Providers to discover opportunities which include Vocational Education and Apprenticeships – through Interactive Workshops, Mock-Interviews, regional Careers Events, Skills-based Challenge Days and Taster Days in the work place: DWP – the Department of Work and Pensions; local employers and industry; Public Services 
• Work Experience/Trialling placements – work-shadowing programme:  One day a week with an employer over 6-12 weeks to include specific allocated provision where appropriate, in conjunction with CSW – Careers South West from Year 10
• Impartial one to one Careers guidance and advice - interviews – CSW

Our Careers Education is student-centred to focus on Inclusion, Diversity and Equality: 

• Understand yourself, your interests, talents, likes and dislikes, what you are good at and how this affects the choices you make  
• Knowledge of the full range of employment opportunities across the region, encouraging students’ understanding of the skills they require for specific job roles 

• Develop understanding of their own attributes: matching personality traits and specific skills to job roles 
• Self-development: encouraging self-awareness, personal skill sets 
• Self-development: learning how to build resilience, self-confidence and self-esteem to nurture and build personal aspirations   
• Encourage all learners to engage in both independent and teamwork 
• Work to explore and develop the skills you will need for working life  

• Make informed, realistic, but ambitious, choices about possible Post-16 Courses, Training and Apprenticeships  
• Develop a plan of action for the future and build a record of experience and achievement (USP - Unique Skills Profile) to take with them on their Post-16 Pathway
